Ano ito? Series: For beginning readers of Filipino

Hello, everyone! I would like to thank the people who sent me messages and comments. I’m sorry I was not able to reply to you personally, but I appreciate all your comments and encouragement. I’m very happy knowing that my resources have helped you in teaching your kids and students. I started making new reading materials for beginning readers of Filipino a couple of months back and I was not able to post them. I know some of you have been looking and asking for this kind of material. Now that lots of students are in the middle of the community lockdown in the Philippines, I think this would be a good time to post some of them. Magbasa Tayo!: Ang Liham ni Joshua

Welcome, new subscribers! Here's a new reading comprehension exercise in Filipino. Students can read a letter written by a child to his grandparents. In the letter, Joshua thanks his grandparents for their Christmas present and gives them the good news that he has learned how to ride a bike. There are two sets of reading comprehension questions for the students to answer. In the first set, students are asked to answer the questions in complete sentences. There are multiple-type questions in the second set. You may type "magbasa tayo" in the Search box to see my other posts that have reading exercises. Please leave a comment below if you notice an error in the file. You may also leave suggestions on how the letter can be improved or add more comprehension questions. Click the title link below, not the image, to open the PDF file. If you download the file,…

Tula: Maglaro Tayo!

You can ask them to memorize the poem, present a choral poetry performance, or maybe use it in a skit. Or you can simply post it on your bulletin board for your students to read. The image below is the first part of the poem. The poem has two pages. I also provided another page where you can find the entire poem. The first page of the PDF file contains its Terms of Use. Magbasa Tayo!: Ang Utos ni Nanay

This is another installment to the set of Magbasa Tayo! worksheets. It includes a short story, several multiple-choice questions about the story, and a short-answer question. The short story and questions are in Filipino. I did not indicated the grade level because it would be best for you to judge whether the story is appropriate for your child's (or student's) reading level.
