This post is dedicated to Helen who requested worksheets on the syllabication of Filipino words (pagpapantig) for Grade 1 students.
You may download, save, print, photocopy, and distribute these worksheets to your children or students. Please do not copy any part of any of the worksheets posted in this blog or distribute them for profit.
The clipart for the words bundok, sanggol, gusali, plantsa, and plaslayt were obtained from openclipart.org. All the other illustrations are by samutsamot_mom.
The two worksheets below ask the student to write the missing syllable to complete the word for the illustration shown. Similar worksheets for preschool or first grade students may be found here.
The two worksheets below ask the student to identify the type of the underlined syllable (P, KP, PK, KPK, KKP, KPKK, or KKPK) where P stands for patinig (vowel) and K stands for katinig (consonant).
IMPORTANT: Please note that in syllables with the letter ng, the ng in the Filipino alphabet is considered one letter, a consonant or a single K for katinig. For example, in the word saranggola (kite), which is syllabicated as sa-rang-go-la, the syllable rang has the form KPK.
The three worksheets below ask the student to syllabicate the Filipino words.
6. Isaayos ang mga Pantig_1 : This worksheet asks the student to unscramble the syllables in each item to make a noun used to name an animal.
7. Bumuo ng Salita Mula sa mga Pantig_1 ; Mga sagot sa Bumuo ng Salita Mula sa mga Pantig_1 : This worksheet asks the student to form as many words as she or her can using the given syllables. A list of possible answers is given in the answer key but the student is not expected to come up with all of the words in the list.
