Alpabetong Filipino Handwriting Practice Sheets (D’Nealian Manuscript)

In my previous post, I uploaded handwriting practice sheets using the Zaner Bloser style. This time, I created Filipino alphabet handwriting practice sheets using the D'Nealian style manuscript. The letters in Zaner Bloser are upright, while those in D'Nealian are slightly slanted. I don't know if preschools in the Philippines teach the D'Nealian manuscript, but people say that it makes the transition to cursive writing easier. The pages also have the area below the dashed line colored light gray. This would help the students determine where to write the small letters. Lowercase letters with heads (b, d, f, h, k, l, and t) have lines that go above the shaded area. Lowercase letters with tails (g, j, p, q, y) have lines that go below the shaded area. See the thumbnail for the letter A below. If you download this resource, it is understood that you agree to abide by…

2019 Alpabetong Filipino Writing Sheets

I'd like to welcome all the new subscribers to my blog. Thank you very much for subscribing! To make up for the time I did not post any worksheets, I'm excited to share with you a new set of Filipino alphabet practice writing sheets. I recently purchased a large set of fonts from fonts4teachers.com and some of them have numbered arrow guides for young learners who are just starting to write letters. I used these fonts for the writing sheets I've made. I used the Zaner Bloser letters (upright letters) for manuscript printing, but I also have a font with D'Nealian letters (slightly slanted letters). If you would like the letters in D'Nealian, please send me a message or leave a comment. For my new subscribers, please note that I create these worksheets using clip art I purchased from teacherspayteachers.com. There's tons of free stuff that you can get from…

Magbasa Tayo!: Ang Liham ni Joshua

Welcome, new subscribers! Here's a new reading comprehension exercise in Filipino. Students can read a letter written by a child to his grandparents. In the letter, Joshua thanks his grandparents for their Christmas present and gives them the good news that he has learned how to ride a bike. There are two sets of reading comprehension questions for the students to answer. In the first set, students are asked to answer the questions in complete sentences. There are multiple-type questions in the second set. You may type "magbasa tayo" in the Search box to see my other posts that have reading exercises. Please leave a comment below if you notice an error in the file. You may also leave suggestions on how the letter can be improved or add more comprehension questions. Click the title link below, not the image, to open the PDF file. If you download the file,…

New Resources Page: Mga Kuwento

I've added a new page under the main menu item Resources. The 'Mga Kuwento' page shows a list of links to Samut-samot blog posts that feature original stories in Filipino or stories translated in Filipino. You can get to the page by clicking 'Resources' on the site's main menu and selecting 'Mga Kuwento.' This page will be updated every time I publish a post with a story. Happy reading!

Matching Cards: Mga Bagay na Magkapares

I've made a set of matching cards with objects that usually go together. There are eight cards or four matching pairs in each page. Cut the cards using the thin lines as guides and mix them up. Ask the child to read each card (the labels are in Filipino) and match them to the card with the object that usually goes with it. You can also ask the child to color the images before doing the matching activity. The matching pairs included in this set are as follows: mesa at upuan (table and chair)plato at kutsara at tinidor (plate and spoon and fork)kama at unan (bed and pillow)sipilyo at toothpaste (toothbrush and toothpaste)kalan at kawali (stove and pan)pandilig at halaman (watering can and plant)blusa at palda (blouse and skirt)sapatos at medyas (shoes and socks)plantsa at plantsahan (iron and ironing board)martilyo at pako (hammer and nail)karayom at sinulid (needle and thread)kandado…
