Pang-ukol Worksheets (Part 1)

IMPORTANT NOTE: Feel free to download, save, print, photocopy, or distribute the pdf worksheets in this post.  Please do not distribute the worksheets or any part of the worksheets for profit.

For my family, the school year ends this week. (I can’t believe I survived waking up at 5:00 in the morning every weekday for ten months.) Thank you for dropping by and using my worksheets. I am glad to help your family in my own small way. I hope you all have a good summer!

The four pdf worksheets below are about Filipino prepositions. A preposition in Filipino is called a pang-ukol. A preposition relates a noun, pronoun, or phrase (which follows the preposition) to another part of the sentence.

One of the most versatile Filipino prepositions is the preposition sa. Filipino phrases that begin with sa may be translated into an English phrase with any of the following English prepositions: to, in, on, through, into, from, etc.

1.  Pagkilala sa Pang-ukol_1 ; Mga sagot sa Pagkilala sa Pang-ukol_1 : This 20-item worksheet asks the student to draw a box around the Filipino preposition/pang-ukol in each sentence.

2. Pagkilala sa Pang-ukol_2Mga sagot sa Pagkilala sa Pang-ukol_2 : This 20-item worksheet asks the student to draw a box around all the Filipino prepositions/(mga) pang-ukol in each sentence. The sentences refer to Jose Rizal, the national hero of the Philippines.

3. Pagpili ng Tamang Pang-ukol_1 ; Mga sagot sa Pagpili ng Tamang Pang-ukol_1 : This 10-item multiple-choice worksheet asks the student circle the corresponding letter of the choice with the Filipino preposition(s)/(mga) pang-ukol that complete the sentence.

Thank you for your help. Being a working mom your work helps me in reviewing my daughter. Likewise a tutor is very expensive … your translations and explanations help me a lot. Too bad I just saw this now … I will try checking this out when grade 5 starts. I also am learning. I was always poor in Filipino. Thanks again.

tanong ko lang pano po ba ginagamit ang pang ukol na “sa”? nalilito kasi ako

    1. samutsamot_mom

The Filipino preposition sa is equivalent to several English prepositions. For example, to indicate the location of things or people, sa can mean in, on, at, into, upon, or within. In some cases, sa is usually used or combined with other Filipino words. (Examples: Ilagay mo ang mga damit sa loob ng aparador./Kunin mo ng kutsilyo sa kusina./Natutulog ang pusa sa ibabaw ng telebisyon.)

Combined with other Filipino words, the word sa can also mean for, from, during, against, among, or about. (Examples: Mula sa Sorsogon ang bagong mag-aaral./Uuwi kami sa probinsiya sa Pasko./Labag sa batas ang ginagawa niya./Ang balita ay tungkol sa bawal na droga.)

      I hope this helps.
